Inkjet Ink Supply

Client Need:

Client required design of an ink supply system allowing continuous printing, even while replacing the ink cartridge.

D&K Solution:

A long narrow flexible bag was developed that could deliver the desired volume and fit within the space constraints of the printer. A custom sensor was developed to detect deflation in the intermediate reservoir (signaling that the ink cartridge was empty) and notifying the user. The intermediate reservoir continued to supply ink while the main ink supply was replaced.

Results:

Prototype intermediate reservoirs were designed and successfully tested in the lab. A production design spin was completed and fully documented for Client implementation.
